Whats with all the fuss over the new Chevy Equinox?

Over the past few months we have been BOMBARDED with questions and all around interest in the new 2010 Equinox. For the first time that I can remember, we literally cannot keep a vehicle in stock. In fact, we have not had a Equinox on the ground for stock in several months. That is not to say we aren't selling them. We have had anywhere from 4-8 Equinox's pre-sold and ordered at all times during that span. We currently have five sold Equinox's in GM's system waiting to be built and delivered. Chevy recently added additional shifts at their Equinox plants to accommodate the overwhelming demand. But why all the fuss? What is it that is so great about this new vehicle that dealers such as ourselves literally CAN NOT keep them on the ground? My goal with our latest blog entry is simply to give our customers more information on this outstanding vehicle and let you know why you should consider an Equinox for your next vehicle.

Let's start with the cool stuff. The toys, the gadgets, all the fun stuff that your current car DOESN'T have. The new Equinox is loaded with new features that were not previously available on past Equinox models and Chevy cars in general. The available power programmable liftgate adjusts to your height and can be conveniently opened by remote. The available advanced remote start system can gauge the temperature outside and change your setting so it feels just right by the time you get in and sit down. PERFECT for both our frigid Iowa winters, and our 100% humidity July's'. The available USB port allows you to plug in your Ipod (or MP3 player of choice) and control it through the audio system. And bluetooth technology allows you to sync your wireless phone so you can keep your eyes on the road (Oprah would be proud). And as usual, one full year of Onstar and 3 Months of XM radio and included with the vehicle at no charge whatsoever. The new touch screen navigation system is light years ahead of previous versions as far as both looks and simplicity of use. Also optional are rear DVD players that flip up from the back of the seat. Your rugrats can all be satisfied with the ability to watch different movies at the same time, or you can sync the DVD players so that they are both playing the same movie. So in summary, the Equinox has all sorts of cool stuff that your current vehicle probably doesn't.

Your safety is also at the forefront in the new Equinox. The rearview camera system is phenomenal. The camera is discretely located near the rear license plate, and the video screen is located directly on the rearview mirror. When you pop the vehicle in reverse the screen will pop on the mirror, and when put back in drive the screen disappears for full use of your mirror. In the new Equinox you are surround with 6 airbags. The Equinox now also comes with GM's Stabilitrak stability control system to help the vehicle respond to steering comands and traction control to reduce wheel spin on gravel roads or slippery surfaces. And with Onstar you have built in automatic crash response for the first year, completely free of charge.

Gas prices obviously are not going down anytime soon. SO you will be happy to know that the Equinox has a world of efficient technology that you may never see but that you will always appreciate. The 4 cylinder version offers an amazing 32 MPG's on the highway. It also offers a direct injection engine and a six speed automatic transmission with overdrive that provides impressive power and fuel efficiency. Even the aerodynamically designed roof and custom designed low rolling resistance tires combine to created less friction for the vehicle and contributes to the excellent gas mileage.

Fuel Comparison EPA Est MPG Max Hwy Driving Range

2010 Equinox 32 601 miles

2010 CR-V 27 413 miles

2010 RAV4 28 445 miles

2010 Escape 28 462 miles

And finally, I can promise you that you have never sat in a more comfortable SUV. The seats in the new Equinox are fatastically comfortable. The driver seat articulates and adjusts to fit you comfortably, and the tilt and telescoping steering wheel also adjusts so everything is within reach. The rear seat slides back and forth for over eight inches of extra leg space, a feature very few small SUV's and crossovers provide. And the Equinox also comes with acoustic laminated glass, triple door seals, and a liquid applied sound dampener - all of which make it one of the most quiet driving SUV's on the market. The overall interior experience is stylish, comfortable, and quiet. And as always, you are backed by the best warranty in the industry - 3 year 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 5 years 100,000 miles on the powertrain.

All in all the new Chevy Equinox is one of the best SUV's on the planet. And the best thing about it? IT'S AFFORDABLE. Chevy completely redesigned the Equinox from the ground up, and LOWERED the starting MSRP from previous years models. There is a reason that Chevy is on its way back up, and the new Equinox is a huge part of that. So if you are looking for a fantastic SUV at a great price, the Equinox should be at the very top of your list - and eventually we may even have a couple in stock.....I think.

Introduction and Announcing "Preferred Pricing" for everyone - everyday

Do you dread the negotiating process when buying a new vehicle? At Mike Molstead Motors we are trying to make the process as painless as possible. We are introducing GM "Preferred Pricing" for everyone on any new vehicle we sell. Here is how it will work:
  • Every new vehicle invoice has a GM "Preferred Price" listed on it (This price is usually reserved for GM employees when they want to buy a new vehicle).
  • We will take the "Preferred Price" and subtract all applicable rebates and incentives
  • THATS IT!

No negotiating needed. The price on the invoice is the price you pay (minus rebates of course). We feel this is the best possible way to eliminate the stress of the negotiating process and make sure we are giving every customer a great deal.
